Wooden pauper statues

I went to a church where were wooden pauper statues. My favourite was a big one that was made last year, while most of them were quite old, the oldest was from the 17th century. There were coin holes to put coins in for the unlucky people and I put a coin into every one of the 42 statues. It was a good time. 

Olavinlinna

Me, mum, Noah and my Pop went to Olavinlinna today. Olavinlinna is a huge castle on a small island. There were secret tunnels, the first water toilet in Finland (from 16th Century), and narrow walkways on the walls (you would not want to jump down - a bit too high for that!). There was a statue of Saint Olav, who is the patron saint of the castle, you can see him in the photo with me in a diving position and Noah. The best thing was the cannon, because they looked old-fashioned.

Alice in Wonderland

I went to a show of Alice in Wonderland. My favourite characters were the Card Guards, because they so silly that I had to laugh. The stage was outside. The sun was out and I was hot. At the interval we got Angry Bird lollipops! It was a fantastic show to see with my 2nd cousins.

Weather today

This morning I sat on the pier and I took a photo of the sun, it was very bright. It was very warm (+25). In the afternoon a thunder storm. First it was thunder and no rain falling, weird. Later the rain started and Maya and her friend danced in the rain. By the end of dinner the rain had ended and it was pretty cool. I loved the morning really.

Cruise

We went on a cruise. On the cruise I got a tube of Smarties that had a toy on it. I went with my cousins and the cabins had four beds each. I slept with Noah, Aapo and Ulla. The first thing I did was go to look at the games. My favourite Lego Star Wars 3. I also went to a DJ school with Aapo, Olli and Noah. I got to use some of the discs just like a DJ would do. The cruise was amazing.

Picking wild strawberries

We went picking stroberes and we rood to the other sid of the lake. We picked the storbes on the other sid  of the rod. The strorbres were dlishes.

Wilderness Lake

We went to Ruutana lake. It was far away. We went with a car. We ate sausages and bread. We cooked the sausages on a fire. The water was amazing, because you could see the bottom clearly because at daylight you could see it like crystal light. I swam a quarter of the length of the lake with my mum and my brother. We tried fishing. My first bait was bread and I threw it a bit too much and my bread flew off the line. Then we used sausage as bait, it worked better, but I did not catch anything. We managed to catch tadpoles by hand. It was a good day!

Toiska activities

I have just jumped in the water. The water was cold in the lake. I jumped more than once, because it is fun!

Fixing the laituri

We are in Toiska. Toiska is our house in Finland and lots of my relatives spend their holidays also in Toiska. Toiska is by a lake and I love swimming in it, though at the moment the water is cold. My dad, my sister and brother and I had to fix the laituri (pier in English), because it had been destroyed by the ice during the winter. I did some hammering of the timbers on it. We also needed to fix the steps as they had collapsed.

Sea Fortress

This is me at a window were you used to shoot people. I found this window along a path on a Fortress Island. It was used for wars more than 200 years ago. We took a ferry there and we ate ice cream on the ferry. Mine was a licorice ice cream. 

 

Evening Orienteering

This is me at the finish of the Orienteering.

There was 7 check points and we ran in a forest. At the check points you had to put your score card on a control point, because then it would show how many checkpoints you had visited. I enjoyed it, but it was pretty difficult to walk through the forest.

 

Everyone is a sport's star

It was Helsinki Day and we were at Helsinki Olympic Stadium with our cousins. I first started off with high jump. I saw my cousin Inka do gymnastics on the high jump mattress. She was really good. And then I started to kick the ball with my dad. Then we threw the javelin and did some long jump. Then it started to rain and we had to go inside the stadium. Inside we found a small place where you played with gymnastics equipment and I found an indoor running track and a slippery dip. I had a fun time there!

Nuuksio National Park

We went for a walk with my aunty and my family. We went to a National Park, which was a pretty long way from the car park. There was a lookout. From the lookout you could see a lake and forest. It was a great view.

You could be climbing on rocks everywhere except for one, which was for wheelchairs. I liked to run around a lot with my sister Maya.

The snake was quite small. The snake didn't scare me at all.

Arctic Museum in Rovaniemi

 I went to the Arctic Museum a bit late. We first went to a shown of the lights of the arctic, then we went to an ice cave that was cold and we were allowed to touch an ice column. We also went upstairs and watched another show about the Northern Lights in the sky, which was projected on the roof, so we had to lay down on the floor to watch it. Then we had to build an oil pipeline from wooden blocks, which was fun and a little bit interesting.

Angry Bird Park

We went to the Angry Bird park at the Arctic Circle, and I first started off on the flying fox. The park was like a normal park but there was lots of Angry Bird characters everywhere. The challenge was to go as fast as I could around the exercise track. There were tyres and some bars to run over, and a climbing net that was very high but you had to come down a slide pole. My time was 1 minute and 8 seconds to complete the challenge.

Disneyland

We flew to Hong Kong and then we went onto a bus and arrived at Disneyland Hotel. We were supposed to find out how many Mickeys were hidden in funny places, like in the carpet. We found at least about thirty, my favourite hidden Mickey was on the glass doors. 

At the hotel breakfast we ate some pancakes, pizzas, cereal, and some sausage. After breakfast we went to look at the pool and äiti let us go for a swim. The best thing about swimming was to be with Maya.

Disneyland was the best place I have ever visited, because it had so many great rides. My favourite ride was Space Mountain. In Space Mountain you started in your rocket and went out into dark space and zoomed around and around. I also liked Grizzly Gulch, which was very like an olden day mining place really. In the roller coaster a bear pushed down a lever that exploded TNT and we had to go fast out of the cave.

We also saw a lot of Disney characters and my favourite one was Pluto, because I just love him. 

We had a big rain storm at the end of that day and the fireworks were cancelled. And it was great we had another day at Disneyland.
