Me, mum, Noah and my Pop went to Olavinlinna today. Olavinlinna is a huge castle on a small island. There were secret tunnels, the first water toilet in Finland (from 16th Century), and narrow walkways on the walls (you would not want to jump down - a bit too high for that!). There was a statue of Saint Olav, who is the patron saint of the castle, you can see him in the photo with me in a diving position and Noah. The best thing was the cannon, because they looked old-fashioned.
Hi Felix,
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear from you and we enjoyed your story about Olavinlinna - did you get to explore any of the 'secret' tunnels? The picture of you and your mum is lovely - the other pictures give us a good idea of what the castle is like.
Enjoy the rest of your time in Finland and give Maya a big hug from us. Lots of love from Nanna & Poppa xxxx
What a wonderful experience it must have been, to explore the old castle. The photos make it look a little like a video game or something out of Mindcraft. Do I recall that they've used the castle for opera concerts in the past, and did they have any staging set up for a concert this summer?
ReplyDeleteThe weather there still looks fantastic. Warm enough for you to wear shorts and shirt, and no hint of the cool mornings that we're having here in Sydney. Enjoy!
